Using Content Writers to Keep Your Readers

I don’t know how many gyms have used this phrase in their advertising, but just because it isn’t original doesn’t make it irrelevant: Summer bodies are built in winter. Before COVID, this was a much less complicated concept. Lots of people join gyms during winter than at any other time, particularly right after the holidays.

In the world of business websites, there is a great deal of competition. You need to stand out in order to keep your readers, and content writers can easily help you do just that. These writers will take a great deal of the stress out of your hands and be able to produce polished, professional work in a short amount of time, allowing you to focus on running your business. However, in order to maintain readership, you will have to work with the writers, as well as separately. Together, you can create a great first impression and collect repeat readers.

Always Proofread the Work of Content Writers

It is true that content writers are professionals and will always try to do the best job possible. However, they are only human and may make a mistake. Any small issue in terms of spelling or grammar can give your readers a bad impression, and a large number of mistakes will likely turn away potential readers, who will never return. Proofreading the written content will only take a few minutes, but it helps ensure that you make a professional impression on your readers. Another reason to proofread the content is to ensure that the writer correctly interpreted your goal; if not, the content may not even be relevant.

Have Content Writers Remain Relevant

That brings us to the next point: Ensuring that your content writers create a relevant article for your page. The content should not only be relevant to your website and product or services, but to your readers as well. If, for example, you have a real estate website and most of your clients are retirees, don’t ask the writers to create endless articles about buying a first home or the best homes for families with small children. No matter your business, product, or website, be sure that the written content is useful to your readers, and they will keep returning. They may even share your page on social media if they find it particularly helpful.

Add Media to the Written Content

Once you approve the article submitted by the content writers, you are still not done with creating the post. You will want to throw in some sort of media to break up the article and keep it interesting, and this is particularly true for longer posts. In some cases, you can ask your content writers to suggest potential images or videos to include, so check whether this is a possibility, as it can save time. Just be sure not to go overboard with images and videos; including many is fine, as long as they are related to the topic and truly add something. If working solely with generic stock photos, try not to use more than one every few paragraphs.

Have the Content Writers Pay Attention to Jargon

Most people would think that including jargon in their articles would help them come across as authorities. While it may do this, many readers, particularly those in their mid-20s to mid-30s and past retirement age, find jargon and buzzwords to be off-putting. It is fine to have the content writers include technical terms when necessary, but the majority of the article should be easy to understand for everyone, even those without the related vocabulary. You should still, of course, have them write for the education level of the intended reader, but make sure your content writers use jargon as little as they would use clichés.

Create a Posting Schedule for Content

Even when working with content writers, you will need to do some things on your own, and one of these is to create a posting schedule. Once you draw in readers to your blog or website, you want them to keep coming back. However, they won’t know when to come back without a posting schedule. Aim to post a new article once a week at a minimum, with two to three times a week being ideal. To keep up with this goal, either create a long-term contract with your content writers or have them write all the posts for a certain period of time (such as a month) at once, so you have a stockpile. There are also other options to ensure that readers know when new content is posted, including setting up an RSS feed or a newsletter. You can even announce new articles via social media, as outlined below.

Interact Outside of the Written Content

Another task that you may not be able to ask the content writers to do for you is to interact with the readers. Interactive websites that include comment sections tend to do the best, both on search engine results pages and in terms of maintaining readerships. Be sure that the comments section is easy to use and take the time to respond to comments made or questions asked. It may be necessary to assign a member of your team to this task, but when your website is still growing, it will not take up a considerable amount of time.

Ask Content Writers to Include Social Media Tags

Anyone familiar with the Internet is aware of the importance of social media. This is one of the best ways to spread awareness of your website and work on your brand. You should ideally have a page on all of the major platforms, including Facebook and Twitter, and encourage readers to like or follow you. You will then be able to announce new articles on social media so readers don’t need to keep checking your website for updates. This is one area where content writers can help you. In addition to writing the basic content for your social media profile, they can also create a small blurb about each new post. You will then use this as an introduction to the article on social media, allowing readers to get a feel for the article before they even go to your website.
